Prayer Call

I assure you, this guy would probably be jailed in this country if he dared to suggest something like THIS!

Come on, Zaydoun..
You wouldn't be jailed just for filing a complaint! :)

More people should speak up about this issue.

I think the sound of the Athan
(or Azan as the commentators on the site spelled it :) is beautiful especially if the muezzin has a good voice.

The main problem that everyone is complaining about are the amplifiers and the speakers that blare onto the streets and into people's houses.

It was interesting though that someone had the courage to speak up about that problem :) More people should because the call to prayer should be inviting and nice to listen to.

This subject reminded me of 9alat el Eid and how beautiful and spiritual the sound of the people praying and repeating Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar in the early morning.

Shurouq... File the complaint, be accused of insulting Islam, get sued, go to jail

You should know the drill by now

No, Really.. You won't be incriminated or charged for filing such a complaint.
It's a very legal, safe procedure.

You have my word :)

yes it is a problem in egypt i know this for a fact

too many people saying the athan at once

but notice that in egypt there are many small masajid, some how an organised policy by the govt to encourage this,,
coz it removed unity
and reduces islamic structures

besides other tactical points

in kuwait there s only one or 2 masjids or 3 or whatever in a qe6ah
so thats a few athans per salat

not like egypt where in down town its like 12 athans at the same being said with few second difference in time of start, so you cant even repeat what one muathin is saying

Are you sure this guy is in Cairo, and not our neighborhood??? :) This is the exact situation we have where I live!

I never knew religion had no consideration for people?s privacy! What if a mother is trying to put her child to sleep? An elderly who?s sick, on medication and needs to rest? A student who?s trying to concentrate and study? Suddenly, someone is screaming in their ears!!!

When its prayer time, life doesn?t stop suddenly and you don?t have to leave everything in your hands and go immediately pray, you can do it conveniently within a certain time limit!

I am sure there is a much better way of announcing prayer time! Poor Islam!

I've never been to Cairo, I guess the situation is dire there.

As for making the same complaint in Kuwaitt... you know, it would have to depend on who is making the complaint and how it is made. If someone writes and says that the current manner in which the athan is said at certain mosques ruins its beauty and Wizarat Al-Awqaf should be more selective in choosing the properly-trained muethins, then it would be fine. However, if someone says that the athan is too loud and amplifiers disturb his beauty sleep, then it will be offensive. To be frank, even I would find that offensive as a Muslim.

Please don't get me wrong everyone.. the Athan, when done right, is beautiful to the ear... However the problem is with the loudspeakers AND the quality of the some of the مؤذنين.. there used to be one in Shuwaikh Janoobi who sounded like a strangled cat!

My fathers office has a window facing a large speaker that belongs to the mosque. His solution was to install soundproof windows .. and ask the guy to tone it down a bit. Howver, I think the reasons are agaisnt a central solution is because it will put a couple of Mu'ezzins out of work. And that they believe eventually everything will be centralized, including the friday sermon.

And HWKW, You expected KTV1 to do a show about Kuwaiti Rappers? Honestly now, that channel is an embarassment to broadcasting channels .. not to mention the rappers arent that good to begin with.
