Kingdom of Heaven

It seems that director Ridley Scott has created a "a complex modern morality play, its dialogue dominated by high-minded talk of God, redemption, sin and punishment"... and yet it has still managed to get some flak from religious extremists on both sides - Muslim and Christian - each denouncing the film as not hard enough on the other side. Go figure!
Scott has also gone out of his way to present a film that, in essence, calls for religious tolerance... Yeah that'll go down well both here and in the Bible Belt. Expect some criticism from our local holier-than-thou figures. Or better yet, hurry and go see it ASAP before it gets yanked off the screens. Remember KNCC has a glorious history of buckling under pressure from religious extremists ;-)

zaydoun when are we getting a post on women not getting suffrage in Kuwait it made the cover of the wall street journal for gods sake man lets go get moving write about it. shouldnt there be uproar? please:)
oh yeah, i also can't wait to see kingdom of heaven. i just hope its not another troy or alexander, those were such killjoys. for the sake of this post, here are the top things i hate about kuwaiti cinemas:
1) intermission: i mean what the fuck. we're not at the theater. one second you are watching a movie, another you see red light and hear loud cheesy music; they must be trying to simulate what it feels to teleport from a movie to a trump casino; its very traumatic. and to add insult to injury they dont give you enough time to get your popcorn.
2) the overstaffed indian ushers that are on a hairtrigger to tell you to get your feet off the seat in front of you.
3) assigned seating
4) 3 year olds watching heads being decapitated but not being able to watch shrek getting some action from fiona. make love, not war people-oh wait, no. which leads me to...
5) seeing BMOs (black moving objects) with the flock of kids and a bearded male escort watching the action movies. i mean seriously, bmos pump out kids faster than ever. and sometimes you see them in pairs, i think they alternate in pumping the kids out, i dunno. but seriously watch out for those bmos and the kids; bmo kids are usually the annoying crying ones because they miss mama (the maid).
6) males in the shabab section struggling to react to emotional scenes. we know you're into the movie; we know you wanna cry when william wallace is dying, not need to alleviate it with humor or a stupid comment, we dont think you're gay if you're into the movie; except, wait, you're in the shabab section with 40 other dudes wearing tight jeans and insecure about their masculinity.
7) when the experts at kncc randomly screen a 5-year old b-movie at the weirdest times. i'd try to analyze it, but i'd probably confuse myself into oblivion.
8) the movies that become popular here. right now, its boogeyman. see for youself: http://www.kncc.com/topten.php. I give up.

This movie is showing here before it's release date in the US which is May 6 according to the picture in Z's post! Cool!

HWKW... sometimes when a subject receives wall-to-wall coverage, I feel I don't have much to add... Hence the lack of post on women's suffrage.. although I did have a snarky remark about it in yesterday's dusty post.
Your KNCC analysis cracked me up though..

Actually this area is sort of the beginning of the bible belt(my small city is unoffically known as the city of churches) so I'll add my .02?....the only complaints I've heard are coming from Professor's of some of the local colleges about the historical inaccuracies of the film.Like most films made they take alot of liberties they say.I haven't seen it yet but am anxious to hear the reviews.I hate paying to see bad films!
