Playlist March 24 - 30

Away from depressing politics, here's some stuff for your weekend. Enjoy them now before somebody declares music حرام... Wait, they already did!
  1. Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.: The cartoon hip-hop outfit is back, with a very different sound.
  2. Van Hunt - Highlights: In a perfect world, this R&B newcomer would be a superstar.
  3. Talib Kweli - Never Been In Love: All rap songs should be this sunny.
  4. Cities of Foam - Out of Reach: A new jazz/electronic outfit from London. Achingly sophisticated.
  5. Nina Simone - See-Line Woman: Inspired by comments on yesterday's post, this is a remixed version of the classic track from the Verve Remixed collection.

Anything Nina Simone sings is wonderful, even if it is remixed. I love her voice, kinda like an American عايشة المرطى. You should listen to "Feeling Good" or "Since I fell for you" or "Blues for Mamma"... فظيعة

Good choice, Zaydoun :-)

Gotta love those Gorillaz, they are too awesome for words. Nina Simone (old stuff, not remixed) is superbly haunting. Nice choices :)

I'd agree with mrsbaker. original is way better than any mixes. pesonally i always seem to be partial to original songs. something about a remix makes a song lose some of its essence.

mushmushi, i love "feeling good" but "keeper of the flame" and "lilac wine" are two of my favorites. don't know your other two suggestions and unfortunately itunes doesnt offer them in their library.
