Zaydoun, I share your views that Qatar is going through some tough times and Allah yekoon ma3aahom inshallah.
However, let us not forget that Qatar many a time defended those same terrorists that are currently bombarding it through that political tabloid channel called Al-Jazeera. It's sufficient to say that it's the number one choice for Osama Bin Laden's video releases.
Of course, I'm not saying that Qatar deserves this, Astaghfar Allah, no one deserves the havoc that violent religious fundamentalism wreaks. I am saying, however, that Qatar should exercise more restraint on Al-Jazeera and the anti-Gulf/ anti-US message it spreads. And again, Allah yekoon fi 3onhom.

People tend to read, listen to, and watch news that reinforces their belief system. Few people challenge themselves and seek other sources of information that may go against their comfortable boundary. There will always be an audience for so called Foxified news. No matter how educated people are, social ignorance somehow prevails.

It sounds satirical; however, I believe that there is a bigger connection between Fox and Al-Jazeera than we know.
It may look like professional wrestling, Fox vs Al Jazeera; then after the card is finished, they ride in the same car. We believe "or want to believe" and we pay the price for the show.

Sir, whilst I totally agree with HWKW on the need to reform education as an essential first step to a kinder,gentler world order; it's on the matter of stopgap antidotes to the spread of terrorism,or rather, the lack of these, which has me squirming in my shoes.
For core values such as tolerance, pragmatism, renunciation of violence and the rest of the package to percolate through a national psyche can take more than a generation even in the best of times.Also whom do we look to to provide remedial teaching to `those
whom we do not speak of'?
