Go Your Own Way
Driving home from work, iPod on random, Fleetwood Mac's Go Your Own Way comes on... This has to be one of the most powerful break-up songs ever recorded, especially when you know that the band members were in the middle of their own affairs and break-ups when it was written.
Still working on my Best of 2004 playlist...

I couldn't stop laughing when I read your post! Just imagining you driving along and singing to yourself! Although I think we've all done it at one time or another...

Bianca.. I even sang to the guitar solo at the end. I felt like Wayne from "Wayne's World"!

I'm still laughing and I think I would have paid to see it! There aren't many things that make me smile on the roads of Kuwait but that would have cracked me up!

rumors is one the top 10 albums of all times, compiles some of the best songs FWM ever made. It is the struggles they were going through that made the music so powerful till today.
I still remember them when they did their first live act in ages, I think after the Clinton election, they had this concert in LA, and before the end they were joined by the USC band for an encore performance of TUSK. For those of you familiar with that song, it has some powerful beats, and am sure you can find that version online somewhere.
Hopefully the next random song you get a rock song from the legends.

This is a classic album, no doubt. I just got Queen's "A Night At The Opera" in 5.1 channel SACD. Mama mia, mama mia let me go! Fun stuff :)

Uh Zaydoun
Thanks for the recommendation
That's what everybody should be listening to.. & not The Cars' "Drive" , or Travis' "Happy to hang around" (By everybody I mean people who are going through breakups and want something to cheer them up and get them dancing again)

Song makes me think of Casino. Nothing sad about it at all. For sad break up songs you should check out The Cure & Tracy Chapman. While they may not have much to do with the subject they will keep you feeling depressed :p

Shurouq.. The Cars' "Drive" is gorgeous. "Happy to Hang Around" is one of Travis's lesser efforts; they haven't been able to repeat the glories of "The Man Who" album.
However, I always thought the nastiest break-up song of all time had to be Alanis Morrissette's "You Oughta Know" which was basically a big "f--k you" to the guy who dumped her.. but man did it ROCK!

Purg.. I have loads of classics on the trusty iPod. This one just got under my skin today, and took over!

It's funny you picked a song by Fleetwood Mac...I swear these days all I'm listening to is landslide!
Oh mirrior in the sky..what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin...ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
I don't know...I don't know...I'm afraid of changin...because I built my life around you...but time makes you bolder...even children get older and I'm getting older too...so take my love, take it down...climb a mountain and turn around and if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills...well the landslide will bring it down...the landslide will bring it down.

Sad to say I just got back from a bowling tournament and decided to log in and do some websurfing. I love your blog. It had some very good laughs. I am doing a paper on guitar girl and have been downloading information for the last hour. I don?t know how I came across your blog but I am glad I did. It has set me back a little because I have spent the last hour reading your archives. If you don?t mind I would like to add you to my favorites so I can back again and read some more. Well I need to get back to guitar girl. I am almost finished with it. Great job.
